Governing Body

Chief and Council of Taykwa Tagamou Nation are elected to represent all members of the Nation. Chief and Council act as the governing body for the Nation and are committeed to fostering positive working relationships with community and partners alike. Their collaborative efforts extend across community members, local organizations, various Nation departments, and external stakeholders, including municipal, federal, and provincial governments, as well as intergovernmental agencies. This approach ensures comprehensive representation and advocacy to meet the community’s needs and interests effectively.

Elections

Taykwa Tagamou Nation operates under its own custom Election Code, with elections scheduled every four years. The most recent election took place in October 2021. The governance structure of the Nation includes one Chief, one Deputy Chief, four Councillors, and one Youth Councillor, each serving a four-year term. These positions are filled through community vote, ensuring representation and leadership that reflects the will and interests of community members.
