About the Child Wellbeing Law

Per Bill C-92, Taykwa Tagamou Nation has the right to create its own child and family laws and policies. The Child Wellbeing Law will apply to all children of Taykwa Tagamou Nation, living both on and off-reserve. As a community, we are affirming our right to ensure that our children, and the broader community are cared for in a way that aligns with the values, beliefs, and culture of our community. We want to prevent our children from being placed in unfamiliar spaces and places via the child welfare system. We aim to provide wrap around care, programming and services at all levels, community wide.
